DIY Rear Wheel Balancing Solution?

$

I recently replaced my original tires, had no problem static balancing the front tire/wheel.Now I’m looking for a way to balance my rear wheel. I’ve seen cone shaped adapters for balancing single sided swing arm wheels, but they are pricey. Wondering if anyone has come up with a DIY solution for this.

She's gone.

So after about 2 and a half years I lost that lovin' feeling for my VFR ...

...and now she's gone (sold her for $5,500).

I also traded in my recently acquired 2010 Honda Elite 110 scooter for a new 2018 Yamaha SMAX scooter so I can now race around my subdivision in flip flops at 80mph instead of only 50mph 😀 . Here's a review vid below that I made on Christmas Eve where I also take the SMAX out on the highway if anyone's interested - LOL

I'll try to pop in once in a while to see what's up but I'll mostly be hanging out on various scooter, Camaro and Yamaha forums as well as my YT channel. I had a lot of fun on my VFR and participating on this forum the last couple of years. There are a lot of great folks on this forum - some of whom I've had the pleasure of actually meeting in person and consider "real" friends. Although I've lost my love for streetbikes, I still love riding on two wheels whether it be my mountain bike or scooter, and there may be a Honda or Yamaha dual sport parked in my garage in the near future 😉

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year!

Moving a bike 800 miles looking for ideas

A few months back I got a new job and moved to Atlanta (from Kansas City).  The move was sort of last minute and I ended up storing my bike instead of moving it with me.

I am trying to find out the best way to get the bike to Atlanta now.

Here are some of the options I am investigating: 1)motorcycle transport.

2)renting trailer or truck and driving towing/hauling it back

3)cheap 1 way plane ticket and riding it down over a weekend.

The trip from Kansas City to Atlanta is about 800 miles and the longest bike ride I have done was maybe 150 miles.

My bike is a completely stock 2014 VFR800.

Thanks!

Had some great times on this bike. Enjoyed the 3 years of ownership and it’s never missed a beat. Previous bike was a blade and I still miss the va va voom and the low weight. So was going to buy this

But got a better deal on this

Maybe in a year or two may return to the VFR when I’m fed up of the wind blast and points on my license 😄

What ever you ride enjoy yourself and thanks for some great advice over the past 3 years.👍

What did you do to your VFR Today?

I wanted to start a post where anyone can come and say what they did to their bike. Or what they are doing, or plan to do. This can start some really good discussions, ideas. and learning. Example would be if someone works on their air filter it could remind others to check theirs.

I didn't think I would want to replace my 07 Interceptor anytime soon but then Honda had to go and paint the 2019 Interceptor red, white and blue.

As far as I can tell this is a Japan only model and seriously doubt it will make it's way to the USA.

You can view the link to Honda of Japan here if you are curious:

Just my luck. T-Rex no cut frame slider FAIL

NYC is probably the ultimate bike protection proving ground. Getting out of my Manhattan office today and noticed that someone moved my bike. By moved I mean from vertical to horizontal and then back to vertical. Looks like the frame sliders I got from T-Rex don't protect. Time to shop for a new mid-fairing...

"Loosed" Manual Service RC79

CoC Document

Hello guys...

Big problem!

Im from Croatia, I bought a vehicle from Australia...

For the registration, I need a COC document of this vehicle, but we have only one Honda dealer in Croatia and this guy there in Honda, telling me that this vehicle cannot be registered in our country! And that's not true.

Only vehicles from USA, can not be used in my land cause they have different "things".. (lights,, blinkers timing...)

But Australian has the same light and blinkers timing and rest of other things... So I've already came on level to fight with this idiot in Croatian Honda Haus through phone calls, and the guy don't want to give me this document.

Why?, I don't know. I just know that he doesn't have to carry about my vehicles registration, cause about registration we have our "roads institutions" which need this COC document to make my new "Vehicle license/book".

Roads Institutions have told me that my Honda rc79 is compatible for our roads, but this idiot just don't want to give up.

. I'm totally done with my Honda, everything is going well, the bike is running and bike is ready for registration, but Honda waiting me already few months in my garage cause of Croatian IDIOT.

Guys, he makes me cry already... So much of stress cause of this COC...

So I don't know anymore what to do, so I've came here, to please you to help me with this.

So if exist any good soul there, which can send me his own COC document... I'll somehow (Photoshop or something) make this document compatible with my Honda... Maybe is that not even possible, and it's not, I know... But somehow, I need this Doc to get my RC79 on the road again...

I know that Coc is probably "Signed" from "your dealer".. Or it's not... I don't know,

I didn't ever saw him how he looks like, so you'll probably laugh me now on this whole story ... But, I really don't know what to do anymore... I just can't anymore handle it with this problem.

To order it online, is too expensive and they searching me the "vehicle book",which I don't have cause vehicle was written off in Australia and she came without Doc's like that.

If someone can make a scan or copy and send it to my Email, I would appreciate it very much.

Looking to source part without full assembly

I would like to buy, if possible, a replacement for the missing bolt cover/cap on my top-case carrier bracket. The part number for the complete assembly is 08L74-MJM-D10, but I can't find any information on buying spare bolts, caps, etc. Ebay and Amazon only seem to have complete assemblies, as does every part retailers I have looked at. Any ideas?

I see 6th gen with all kinds of rim colors but the 8th gen not so much.

I think the white VFR would look great with white or blk wheels. Bronze is a little blah.

Any one out there with black wheels on there 8th gen.

Check your nuts

Yesterday I was enjoying some spirited riding out with other sport bike enthusiasts. Everything was going great until I started feeling my whole bike wobbling fiercely. I slowed and the wobble continued, and got worse, so I stopped with the other guys.

Turns out I had only two lug nuts holding my rear wheel on, and those were loose. We were in the middle of nowhere, but I convinced one of my friends to ride to the nearest town and check NAPA for the appropriate part, an hour later I had new lug nuts installed.

The last idiot who installed the rear wheel was me, so I have nobody else to blame. I did it with a torque wrench, and in the star pattern. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but lesson learned. Check your nuts.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good throttle lock for the 8th Gen?

if you went from a owning a 6th Gen to an 8th gen which do you prefer?

I have a 2007 VFR RWB and I love it.

I've considered at times going to the 8th Gen but the looks hold me back compared to my RWB which always gathers a crowd

wherever I go. Top speed is less and  it seems it is not as quick according to another member I talked to who owned both.

In general what do 6th to 8th gen owners feel about the switch.

side stand lean angle?

$

I feel like the lean angle when on the side stand is still quite upright compared to my other bikes, makes me nervous if parked outside when it's windy, has anyone shortened the oem side stand to help off-set this? I bought a side stand foot awhile back but there's no way to use without the bike being too upright?

Thoughts, ideas, inputs?

Rear tire size up to 190??

$

So I'll be in the market for a new rear tire before the snow melts here in the great armpit of the world, northern Pennsylvania. I was just wondering if there are any benefits or drawbacks to moving up one tire size, from 180 to 190. Or can it not even be done? Never thought of it or tried it. Keep in mind that stock rim will still be used. Thoughts?
